Pipe Major Bob Dunbar (Dykes) has been playing pipes since the age of eleven.  He joined The Queens Own Highlanders as a boy soldier at the age of fifteen.  Having travelled the world he has played for Royalty, VIPs and at many important events both at home and abroad and has always been well received and indeed has been asked to return on many occasions.  After studying for 9 months at the Army School of Piping at Edinburgh Castle in 1979 he was awarded the Pipe Major Certificate passing with a B+ Grade.  Having served as a Pipe Major with The Kings Own Scottish Borderers for 5 years Dykes continued his Piping career in civy street and is sought after to play for all special engagements and events.  He is currently Pipe Major of the Forres Pipe Band based in Morayshire.
